The text initially provides a history of Black Greek organizations beyond the nine major organizations. Next, the pledging practice of the organizations is chronicled, noting the abuses associated with it, and a recent research study assesses the policies implemented to curb hazing in the organizations. The text highlights the growth of fraternalism outside of the mainstream organizations, with particular emphasis on African fraternal organizations. Fort Bend Deputies Make Arrest in String of Mission Bend Area Armed Robberies

Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested an 18-year-old man Wednesday in connection with four armed robberies in the Hwy. 6/Bissonnet area over the past two weeks.

At this time, Harol Estiven Mejia faces one charge of aggravated robbery and is in the Fort Bend County Jail. No bond has been set.

The most recent robbery occurred at about 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 at the Sunrise Super Store, located at 16303 Bellaire near the Mission Bend South subdivision.

The store clerk said a Hispanic male, estimated to be  in his late teens or early 20s and wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and a gray beanie hat, entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded cash.

After receiving the money, he was last seen walking toward Bellaire Boulevard and then north on Paseo Del Sol.

Based on photos and videos from three previous robberies in the same area, detectives developed information leading to the suspect’s identification and home address.
