Is this print with Picasso signature a fake?

The painting shows a spanish looking young woman in light pink dress, black sleeveless vest, sitting in front of orangish window, red-orange swirl in hair or hat. Its not in cube style (so not Woman with Flower -1932). 10 points if you can...

Talent show takes all kinds

Always leave dazzled and incredulous.”

The contest itself is almost shrouded in mystery. Neither hosts Marie Uhler or Tobias know what the contestants will perform and chalk it up to the element of surprise.

To understand what categorizes as top-notch “talent,” the very first winner was a man who solved three Rubik’s Cubes while intermittently drinking shots of whiskey between each cube in under two minutes.

“Last time, we had these guys that did some really intense juggling,” Uhler said.

Delving into the bizarre and interesting isn’t the sole reason for putting on the show; it also serves as a benefit for Nuçi’s Space, for which both hosts have a deep admiration.

“Nuçi’s Space has probably been the most helpful organization that has helped us or someone we know,” Uhler said. “If they haven’t provided you a service, they have for someone else.”

Tobias has chosen contestants such as Colby Carter to perform in his show, based on the outline for organizing it: as a place where friends and Athens citizens can come to have fun in a non-judging environment.

And went through the usual University graduation ritual. Jordan actually technically graduated quite a while back and has been out in the workforce, but hadn’t had a formal graduation ceremony before now due to the University’s odd cutoff dates to attend the mid- and end-year ceremonies. Congratulations Jim!

That’s him in the middle, obviously, flanked by my other – yes, I have at least 2! – friend Luke on the left and myself on the right. Luke will also be graduating soon as will I, however I’ll be over in Norway by the time my ceremony will roll around. I’ll just have to just make a funny hat out of cardboard and sit in a cheap folding chair for a few hours by myself, and get my diploma(s) by mail.

Having a friend formally graduate really made me realize that my formal education is coming to a close, and soon I really will be out in the workforce. After nearly 17 years of formal education the thought of not having defined assignments with rigid “correct” answers and someone to watch over my progress this is a bit daunting; soon I’ll be in charge of real products and people will actually depend on the code, designs and ideas I produce. I’m very excited to finally move out into the real world and make an impact (hopefully in a good way, not an evil-scientist-run-mad way) but at the same time terrified of moving outside the bounds of an educational institution....

Homemade Halloween

Can I just say, I think I make a pretty adorable devil. Yes, that’s me up there, between my sisters the Rubik’s Cube and the Holly Hobbie doll. My younger sister sent me this shot the other day, along with a few others from Halloweens past, and we had a grand time reminiscing about our favorite costumes when we were kids.

Even though I haven’t been Trick-or-Treating in eons, I still love a good Halloween costume. But as far as the store-bought variety go these days, “good” very rarely enters into it (if you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, anyway). For kids, the options don’t extend much past cheap, plasticky approximations of the latest cartoon or movie characters; for women, our choices seem to be “sexy health-care provider,” “sexy blue-collar laborer,” or “sexy sex worker.” Yay Halloween!
