Military Cap and trade

Answers

Why doesn't Obama take on the Republicans again, but this time about Cap and Trade and Global Warming?

Can you imagine. His intellect. He should really do this and sticked to what he promised. Cap and Trade should be done right now and gays in the military should be serving. He will follow through on his promises. Why would you think otherwise?

I think otherwise because over half a century of living on planet earth has taught me that the liberal way is the bad way.

BTW, global warming is bunk.

California adopts extensive 'cap-and-trade' plan

SAN FRANCISCO — California formally adopted the nation's most comprehensive "cap-and-trade" system Thursday, an experiment by the world's eighth-largest economy that is designed to provide financial incentives for polluters to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The California Air Resources Board voted unanimously to approve the final draft of its plan, a key part of the state's landmark 2006 global warming law, which seeks to reduce emissions to 1990 levels by 2020.

Some businesses regulated under the program argue that it will increase the price of electricity for consumers and hurt job creation by raising the cost of doing business in the state. But the program's supporters expect cap-and-trade to spur economic recovery and innovation, by pushing business to invest in clean technologies.

Energy-Savvy Military Base Bumps Up Against Calif. Cap-And-Trade ...

But a key component of the energy-conscious base has been ensnared by California’s global warming law.

At issue is the Air Ground Combat Center’s cogeneration plant that produces electricity and hot water primarily from natural gas. Built eight years ago, the 7.2-megawatt plant provides at least 57 percent of power used by the base’s 16,000 or so Marines, sailors and civilians.

The power plant’s numbers wow the Pentagon, which is striving to make its bases energy-independent. But California regulators are focused on another number — 36,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent that the plant emits each year.

Those emissions are enough to subject the plant to the state law for curbing heat-trapping CO2 and other greenhouse gases. The law is set to take effect in 2013.

The Marine Corps argues that the plant is good for the environment. The cogen operation emits half as much greenhouse gases as power the base buys from off-site generators, said Erin Adams, the base’s air resources manager. But California’s law does not allow the base to take credit for such savings....

Military Couples Can Overcome Fertility Challenges, A Side Effect of ...

Repeated uprooting or long-distance moves can bring stress that intrudes into a military couple’s family planning efforts. The distractions and disruptions of relocating across the country or around the globe may trigger biological changes that interfere with starting or enlarging a family.

It is natural to experience physical and emotional strains from a permanent change of station (PCS) that involves a new setting, different personnel, changed responsibilities and perhaps an unfamiliar culture or language. Each partner is affected, whether or not both are service members. Relocation stress often intensifies for a nonmilitary spouse who needs to find work, new friends and a fresh social network.

Another important part close to this field of study. A cascade of concerns during months of adjustment may cause headaches, insomnia, reduced appetite, high blood pressure, moodiness and other changes. Military couples “often are emotionally consumed and physically exhausted by the logistics of moving,” says a social work journal report titled “Military Families Under Stress.”

A New Declaration of Independence At the very least — and this is literally the very least the government should be doing right now to combat climate change — a price should be put on carbon emissions, either in the form of a direct tax or as part of a cap-and-trade scheme.
