To a supplementary question from Nasharudin Mat Isa (PAS-Bachok), he said the government has provided various incentives to reinstate Malaysia’s position as the world’s largest natural rubber producer.
“The main initiative taken is to undertake replanting of matured rubber plantations and in addition plant 300,000 hectares of new land with rubber trees throughout the country,” he said.
Hamzah also said besides rubber-based products, the government is also focusing attention on the manufacture of rubberwood-based products like furniture which had great export potential. — Bernama
