Despite the success Olly is quick to say that he would never ditch music for full-time TV roles.
"I like working on The Xtra Factor and it's been going well but it hasn't inspired me to do more presenting," he insists. "There was no way I was ever going to let the music suffer."
Olly's new album, In Case You Didn't Know, sees him extend the sound he first unleashed on his debut last year, and embrace more genres than ever.
The first two singles show the breadth of the collection. Heart Skips A Beat, which hit No1 in August, signalled a cool urban-pop direction while Dance With Me Tonight is a Sixties-sounding rock 'n' roll love song.
"I've tried to be different with genres this time," he explains.
"Some songs are reggae-influenced, others Motown, indie, street urban. Everything has a different vibe. I've written 12 of the 13 songs on the album and now I'm excited to see what the fans think of it." Writing and recording a second album is a luxury a lot of X Factor graduates don't get.
